NIT Silchar carries a vision of encouraging independent research and development by fostering innovation both at the student and faculty level. Summer B. Tech Projects, M. Tech Thesis and term projects help in building the very foundation of research potential. Every year, each department carries out its own research programmes engaging more and more number of students.
The research papers formulated by the faculty and students have found place in reputed national/international journals. More recently, the institute has entered into MOU’s with established organizations allowing them to open their research bases in the campus to undertake ambitious projects with the participation of the students.
